Teach Everyone How To Use Fiber Optic Quick Connectors

What is a fiber optic quick connector? How to use fiber optic quick connectors? Even many staff members who have first encountered fiber optic home work feel confused, and the following will focus on each one.

What is a fiber optic quick connector

Fiber optic quick connectors are also known as flexible joints, which can be used to connect two optical fibers to form a continuous optical path. This optical device can be reused multiple times, making it faster and more convenient to use. In terms of structure, there are two types: mechanical connection type and hot melt type. The connection type also includes two categories: embedded type and direct type. Different types of fiber optic quick connectors have different materials, performance, low stability, service life, and cost.

The fiber optic quick connector mainly consists of three parts: the main body, shell, and tail cap, as shown in the figure. The editor reminds everyone to note that after removing the above items from the packaging bag, do not discard the packaging bag, as it will be used later.

1. Thread the leather cable into the tail cap and use scissors to peel off the outer skin of the leather cable by about 5-6 centimeters. Then cut off the peeled outer skin and keep the outer skin layers on both sides flush. Be careful during the peeling process to prevent damage to the internal fiber optic cable.

2. Place the optical cable in the fixture, keep the outer edge flush with the scribed line inside the fixture, then close the fixture cover. Next, use Miller pliers to press close to the edge of the fixture, cut off the exposed coating layer, expose the optical fiber, and clean the exposed white optical fiber with alcohol.

3. Cut the fiber optic cable with a fixture, take it out of the fixture after cutting, and compare it with the diagram on the product packaging bag to ensure it meets the requirements. Then align the fiber optic cable with the main hole slot, insert it, and stop when it reaches the bottom of the main body. At this point, you can clearly observe that the fiber optic cable is bent. Press the white crimp cover on the main body to the bottom, then screw the tail cap on the main body, and then fasten the outer shell.
