In order to achieve the needs of flexible connection between different modules, devices and systems, there must be a device that can be detachable between optical fibers and optical fibers, so that the optical signal can be transmitted according to the required channel to achieve and complete the predetermined or desired purposes and requirements, the device to achieve this function is the optical fiber connector, such as the optical fiber connector failure, It will not only cause signal leakage, noise superposition, but also affect the normal transmission of the entire link.
Optical fiber connector common troubleshooting:
(1) Fault phenomenon: a line due to the need for temporary interruption of optical cable reconstruction of municipal construction, then to temporarily change the optical cable routing, the need for several front-end circuitous connections between the two places, in order to quickly connect, the connection are using active connectors, link recovery found that a data service can not be restored.
Fault cause and removal: Link OTDR on the detection of each fiber core is normal, the optical power meter at the receiving end test receiving signal is normal. However, after the connection is not connected to the service, further careful inspection, found that the OTDR placed in the wrong band, after switching to 1550nm wavelength, again measured found that the Fresnel emission curve in two places have a strong emission loss, the device distance should be in the two branch room. After the connector on the ODF is carefully cleaned with alcohol, the emission wave disappears. The reason is that the active connector does not pay attention to dust pollution during fiber hopping.
(2) Fault phenomenon: The user of an optical node reflects that the signal of the added channel 3 is very poor and there is interference.
Fault finding and cause analysis: The optical receiver receives the optical power normally and the output RF signal of the optical receiver is also normal. However, in its monitoring port, using the monitor to look at the picture found that there were many clutter in the addition 3 channel, the other channels were normal, and the other one received and the fault remained. Change one optical signal to the front end and send it there, the fault is still the same, indicating that it is not the signal source problem. Replace an active connector on the optical fiber ODF frame and the fault is eliminated.
Carefully look at the active joint, can not see the problem with the eyes, suspected that may be caused by the quality of the connection head, due to the low accuracy, signal reflection caused interference.
(3) Fault symptom: The user of an optical node reports that the signal quality is poor and snowflakes are serious.
Failure cause and elimination: This failure occurred after half a year of maintenance, suspected to be caused by improper maintenance. In the machine room, the transmitter and the splitter and the corresponding contact on the ODF frame are checked normally, and the user's signal is normal after the recovery, but the user's signal is worse after a few days. This time, the corresponding movable connector in the machine room was carefully checked, and it was found that the porcelain core of an adapter was split, resulting in poor connection of the movable connector and incorrect optical fiber, resulting in increased signal loss. After replacing the adapter, the fault is rectified.
(4) Fault phenomenon: the entire cell telecommunications signal snowflake is serious.
Cause search and elimination: Check the optical receiver found that the active connector of the optical detector input fiber connector and the adapter are not connected. Take off this movable joint with medical cotton soaked in anhydrous alcohol clean, then install, troubleshooting.
(5) Fault phenomenon: no light signal or light signal at the receiving end is sometimes absent, when strong, when weak.
Cause finding: In the initial determination of the normal optical equipment, you should first check whether the optical fiber connector is in good contact, and swab the relevant active connector, adapter, etc. Because the optical fiber connected devices are prone to damage and pollution during operation, the failure rate caused by this is also high. The damage to the connector can generally be seen directly with the eyes, such as pigtail breakage, poor contact of the active connector, damage to the porcelain core in the adapter, etc., otherwise, it is necessary to further determine whether there is a problem with these devices with the help of measuring instruments.
With the continuous development of optical fiber communication technology, the application of optical fiber connectors in optical fiber systems will be more extensive, and optical fiber connectors will play an indispensable role in optical fiber communication together with optical attenuators, optical isolators and other optical passive devices.
