1. Introduction of MPO jumper
The MPO fiber jumper consists of a hot-swappable MPO connector and a multi-mode/single-mode optical cable. The MPO optical fiber connector includes optical fiber, sheath, coupling components, metal rings, pins, dust caps, etc., and the pin part is divided into two forms: male head and female head.
The male connector has two pins, while the female connector does not. MPO fiber jumper has the characteristics of low insertion loss, good interchangeability and pluggability, and the number of fiber cores, which is widely used in the optical fiber cabling scene requiring high-density integration.
Second, MPO jumper application
MPO fiber jumper can be used in optical fiber communication system, cable television network, telecommunication network, local area network, wide area network, communication base station cabling, wiring in the wiring box and optical link interconnection in the optical active equipment.
MPO jumpers are generally used with high-rate optical modules above 40G, because 40G QSFP+ SR4, eSR4, PSM4 optical modules and 100G QSFP28 SR4, PSM4 optical modules are using 4 transmit channels and 4 receive channels in parallel transmission mode. Therefore, at least eight fiber jumper cables are required to connect to an optical link.
40G QSFP+ SR4 and 40G QSFP+ PSM4 usually use 12-core MPO interface, because the QSFP+ optical module production process, the specification of the channel are consistent, with channel 1 to channel 12, channel 2 to channel 11, channel 3 to channel 10, channel 4 to channel 9 to form four groups of transceiver channels. The middle four channels are not used, and each group of transceiver channels is transmitted 10G, which can be added up to complete 40G transmission.
In addition to the 40G/100G optical module, the 12-core MPO jumper can also be used in the 100G CFP4 SR4 optical module, while the 24-core MPO jumper is generally used in the 100G CFP2 SR10 and 100G CFP SR10 optical modules.
Third, MPO fiber jumper classification
MPO jumpers are mainly classified into two categories, the first is divided into MPO trunk fiber jumpers and MPO branch fiber jumpers according to the connector type; The second classification is divided into 8 core, 12 core, 24 core, 36 core, 48 core and 72 core according to the number of fiber cores, but the most commonly used are 12 core and 24 core.
Four, MPO fiber jumper polarity classification
1. Type A (straight-through type) : The wires at both ends of the jumper are arranged in the same position, that is, the 1 on one end corresponds to the 1 on the other end, and the 12 on one end corresponds to the 12 on the other end. The Key directions at both ends are opposite. key up corresponds to key down.
2, Type B (staggered type) : the position of the two ends of the jumper core is opposite, that is, the 1 of one end corresponds to the 12 of the other end, and the 12 of one end corresponds to the 1 of the other end. key directions on both ends are the same, that is, key up corresponds to key up, and key down corresponds to key down.
3, Type C (pair staggered type) : The MPO jumper of type C is an adjacent pair of fiber core position cross, that is, the fiber core 1 on one end corresponds to the 2 on the other end, and the fiber core 12 on the other end is 11. The Key directions on both ends are opposite. key up corresponds to key down.
