With the deepening development of the information and data era, optical communication has also extended to many fields of life. With the maturity of 4G and the arrival of the 5G era, 40G/100G networks are widely used in data centers, and the installation and management of fiber optic jumpers have become increasingly important. The quality of fiber optic patch cord management directly affects the overall data transmission. Managing fiber optic patch cords well can not only reduce the operating costs of the entire fiber optic network, make it beautiful and convenient, but also increase the reliability and flexibility of network operation and maintenance.
In the process of installing and organizing fiber optic jumpers, we should pay attention to the following aspects:
1. Do not excessively bend the fiber optic jumper, pay attention to its bending radius. The minimum bending radius of the optical fiber during use is 30mm, and the bending radius that MPO fiber jumpers can withstand cannot be less than 10 times their diameter.
2. During installation and use, pay attention to protecting the plug to prevent collision and pollution. After disassembly, it is necessary to wear a dust cap in a timely manner. If the end face of jumper connector or connector core is polluted, it can be wiped with Cotton wool dipped in alcohol, otherwise the insertion loss will be affected.
3. During installation, the receiving and transmitting wavelengths of the Optical module at both ends of the optical fiber jumper must be consistent to ensure the accuracy of data transmission.
4. Laser signals can cause damage to the eyes. Please do not look directly at the end face of the plug during signal transmission.
5. Do not pull or squeeze the fiber optic jumper. When installing fiber optic jumpers, excessive force can affect the performance of the jumpers and connectors at both ends.
When bundling and organizing fiber optic jumpers, the tightness should be moderate to prevent compression caused by excessive tightness.
7. Labeling provides instructions, and correct labeling brings great convenience to later maintenance and management. It can quickly and accurately identify the starting and ending points of each jumper.
When there is damage caused by human factors or other uncontrollable factors, the jumper should be replaced in a timely manner.
9. When there are abnormal situations in the fiber optic network or system, troubleshooting methods can be used to test one by one. The on/off test can usually be done using a light pen, or precision instruments can be further used to test the insertion loss and return loss. If the insertion loss of three consecutive jumpers exceeds the normal range by more than 30%, consider whether the ceramic core end face of the instrument is contaminated or damaged.
10. If fiber optic jumpers are used for horizontal operation of wiring centers, it is recommended to choose PVC outer covers with good mechanical properties and moderate prices, which have characteristics such as oxidation resistance and degradation resistance; For the connection of flat floors between buildings, LSZH outer covering with a special flame retardant coating is usually selected, which has low smoke, low toxicity, and low corrosion fire safety performance.
