Is the insertion loss of fiber optic jumpers as small as possible

Customers often request fiber optic jumpers with particularly low insertion losses. For example, two days ago, a customer customized APC jumper with insertion loss less than 0.1dB. This high-level jumper can be produced, but its cost is higher than that of telecom level jumpers. So is the insertion loss of fiber optic jumpers as small as possible? The answer is no.

Fiber optic jumpers, as devices for bridging signals and connecting optical paths, have a lower insertion loss and may cause a smaller attenuation. However, they blindly pursue excessively high optical parameter requirements, and the materials and processes of fiber optic jumpers must be significantly improved, requiring high costs and an inappropriate cost-effectiveness ratio. In the scheme design of the Photosystem, the design power of the light source will be reserved, which is larger than the actual power. The power will be reduced to the power value required for actual use through Optical attenuator, optical splitter and other devices. So the insertion loss of the fiber optic jumper that serves as a connection can meet the requirements of telecommunications level. If you want to improve the performance of jumpers, such as interchangeability, reliability, and consistency, it is recommended that customers use fiber optic jumpers with interference (3D) on the end face of the jumper, which is currently a high standard jumper requirement internationally.
