APC-to-UPC Hybrid Design
SC/APC 8° angled polish provides ≥60 dB return loss. LC/UPC dome polish provides ≥50 dB. One cable connects both interface types - green body identifies APC, blue identifies UPC.


Small Form Factor, High-Density LC Connection
LC 1.25 mm ferrule is half the size of SC 2.5 mm - doubles port density in SFP/SFP+/QSFP transceivers. RJ-style latch for fast plug-and-pull operation.
G.657.A1 Bend-Insensitive Fiber
10 mm minimum bend radius for tight routing in patch panels and under-floor wiring. Backward compatible with G.652.D. Supports up to 40 km at 1550 nm.

A: APC has an 8° angled end-face (≥60 dB return loss), UPC has a dome-shaped end-face (≥50 dB). GPON and CATV systems require APC at the distribution side; equipment ports like SFP transceivers use UPC. Green connector = APC, Blue = UPC.
Q: Can I plug an APC connector into a UPC adapter?
A: No. Mismatched polish creates an air gap causing >3 dB loss and ferrule damage. Always mate APC to APC, UPC to UPC. The angled key slot on SC/APC adapters prevents most accidental cross-mating.
Q: What speeds and distances are supported?
A: 100 Mbps to 100GbE. Up to 10 km at 1310 nm, 40 km at 1550 nm. Actual reach depends on transceiver optical budget and total link loss.
Q: What is the difference between a patch cord and a fiber pigtail?
A: A patch cord has connectors on both ends for plug-and-play use. A pigtail has one connector and one bare fiber end for fusion splicing to trunk cables.
